When you pick up this movie and read the back cover, it seems like it's going to be another hilarious, "Meet the Parents"-style, light-hearted flick, but surprisingly, it's not.

Let me begin by saying that I don't recommend this movie for anyone still living with their parents b/c the subject matter and crude language (not necessarily cursing) are a bit much.

The story is one that's obvious. Boy brings uptight (hair too tight) girl home to his VERY flamboyant family where she is perceived as a five-letter word. She, on the other hand, can't understand why they hate her so - let the roller coaster begin.

The acting in this movie is great. Although you don't get much (if any) in-depth background on any of the characters, they all carry their roles exceptionally well. Dermot Mulroney, Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica Parker, Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, & Craig T. Nelson, all feed off of each other nicely.

The worse part of this movie is that one of the brothers is gay and has his "friend" with him throughout. There's a scene in the movie that completely amplifies the whole "gay is ok", politically correct opinion - as well as an underlying story of the two wanting to adopt a child.

All in all, so much of this movie reminded us of our own families and how close families can be when an "outsider" comes in. The end of the movie is a bit of a tear-jerker, but all in all, we found this movie funny - however, there are definitely parts that are offensive.
