WWJD – Shop at Wal-Mart?

Oh my. Watch this…

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not for sweatshops and the like, but I hardly see how people can get so riled up at Wal-Mart. Let’s face it, it’s not a white-collar job, but it’s a step up from McDonald’s. :) They could always go somewhere else if they’re not happy with the work situation.

Not to mention that Wal-Mart employs over 1.7 MILLION people. That’s alot of people who have jobs that apparently otherwise wouldn’t. I’d say Jesus would be pleased. :)

As a former Wal-Mart employee, I never felt cheated – I just knew it was Wal-Mart – I was more upset about the vest with the smiley face I had to wear. By the way, the pastor WOULD have to be Baptist, wouldn’t he. sheesh.

    Notice that the ad was paid for by a LABOR UNION. The simple fact is that Wal-Mart employees, on average, are the highest paid retail sales employees in the nation. Wal-Mart employees won’t unionize and that means a huge amount of protection money lost that could otherwise be legally embezzled from paychecks.

    Someone who begins a career as a greeter at Wal-Mart can work hard and eventually be promoted to management. No labor union thug can move into management and STAY in the union. Smear smear smear.

    If this pastor does as much research before a sermon as he did before becoming a mob-connected mouthpiece, I doubt he’s ever opened a Bible! How many employees at YOUR church don’t have health insurance mr. pastor man? You want to talk about a national travesty, let’s talk about how the American church uses and abuses employees with unpaid overtime, non-existent benefits and hostile working conditions.

    Thanks for getting me all riled up, Aaron.

    Ask not “What Would Jesus Do”, ask “What You Would Do For Jesus”! I’m thinking we all need to remember what the Bible says about speaking against “God’s anointed”! Another applicable scripture comes to mind “judge NOT, lest YE be judged”! Yikes!! Kinda puts things in perspective, huh? Wesleyans…double sheeeesh (-;

    Talking out against (or “touching”) God’s anointed is not wrong as long as it is done in scriptural context. For instance, pointing out a scriptural wrong of someone who appears to be “God’s anointed” – no matter how “anointed” they seem, is not wrong.

    In the same manner, we ARE called to judge others in a scriptural sense…not in a fleshly manner with the sole purpose of causing harm or shame.

    The thing that bothers me about this video is the fact that the pastor is using Jesus to promote his own belief (and – more so – that of the ad sponsors). Wal-Mart employs probably more people in the U.S. than any other employer – or at least a huge number. The only reason some of these issues (aside from healthcare) are even noticeable is because of that fact. As far as healthcare, the majority of those people are working part-time – there are no laws for part-time healthcare.

    He’s playing the – if you’re a real Christian, you won’t shop at Wal-mart – card. Much like the Procter & Gamble satanism “scare” in the late 80s, early 90s – which turned out to be false. But how many Christians boycotted just because their pastor unfairly “judged” based on speculations.

    And there’s no reason to keep score. :)
