Coffee Beats Gas (or Jessi’s New Job)
Popularity: 12%For all of you who haven’t heard, Jessi has been working the last month and a half at a local gas station in the evenings to make some extra money to pay off Ellie the extra doctors bills, but a couple of weeks ago she was told that she should apply at our new Starbucks (not yet open) and she did. Long story short, she got the job and she’s been training the last two weeks.
The new store officially opens on Thursday of this week, but there’s a special “Friends and Family” day on Wednesday where (if you’re a friend or family) can stop in and get a free drink! It’s right across from Wal-Mart (for all interested).
So far, we feel like it’s a God-send. Jessi enjoys it, she’ll - HOPEFULLY - be working in the mornings before I go to work so she’ll be home during the day and evenings, and it offers great insurance for anyone working over 20 hours - which is a amazing. Meaning, we can give up our personal policy (costing us almost $500/mo)!!!
So yeah, my wife’s a Barista. ![]()
Barista: Entered into English from the Italian in which it means roughly “bartender” (plural: baristi [masculine or mixed sex] or bariste [feminine]). The term is derived from the Italian use of the word bar, which is similar to the American or British café. In Italy, the barista typically works behind a counter, serving both hot (such as espresso and other coffee-based ones) and cold alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
She’s such a wonderful person and God is great. ![]()
