DEFINED: “I Pledge Allegiance”
Unless you’re older than I am, not many of you are probably too familiar with Red Skelton.
Born in Vincennes, IN, Richard Bernard “Red” Skelton (July 18, 1913 – September 17, 1997) was an American comedian who was best known as a top radio and television star from 1937 to 1971. Skelton’s show business career began in his teens as a circus clown and went on to vaudeville, Broadway, films, radio, TV, clubs and casinos, while pursuing another career as a painter. [Wikipedia]
Either way, back on January 14 (my birthday!), 1969, Red had this interesting story about the Pledge of Allegiance…it’s worth a look – even more pertinent today…

When I went to college in Vincennes, I lived in an attic which Red Skelton played in as a child.
LOL – You would.
What an awesome recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance! Thank you for bringing its definition to our attention, son. I recall watching the Red Skelton show as a small girl when I stayed the night with my Great Aunt Rose & Uncle Jack.
BTW Aaron, my father (your Grandpa Johnston) and Red Skelton went to different schools together! Y’all are laughing, but they really did!!
