Lots to Be Thankful For…

It’s been a busy week at the KipferHome. My last day at work was Wednesday, we closed on both houses Wednesday as well, we had a great but quick Thanksgiving at our house (amongst the boxes), and just today we purchased a new van – a 2005 Buick Terraza CXL:

We had to drive 2 hours to Michigan to buy it, but we got a good deal on it, so it was worth it. It’s soooo much better than our escape! Just having leather seats is enough – there’s nothing like kids and cloth seats…somehow every drop of juice, milk, slobber, snot, and other unknown substances makes its way to the fabric in cloth seats leaving lovely stain marks – leather you can simply wipe clean.

We’re in the home stretch of moving. Only 2 weeks away before we have to be out of here! It looks like we’ll be doing the bulk of the moving on Sunday, the 2nd. We thought we were going to have until the 15th, but we didn’t look at the paperwork correctly. Either way, sooner is good.

On a sad (but happy) note, we found a good home for Happy in Merrillville, IN – about 3 hours north of here.  I REALLY didn’t want to have to give him up, but with the possible adoption and the moving and everything else that’s been going on, one extra mouth to feed and care for isn’t what we need.  So we found a couple with 2 little girls (4 and 1) thought he was exactly what they had been looking for!  We took him up there last weekend and I think he felt right at home.  We’ve talked with them a couple of times since, and they love him (and it seems, vice versa).  So although we were sad to see him go, it was for the best all around.
