An Unexpected Addition to the KipferHome
Popularity: 62%Maybe we’re crazy. Maybe we’re too soft. Maybe we just wanted to help orphans.
Whatever it was, it’s over now and we’ve got a new K-9 addition to the KipferHome. Unbelievable, but true.
Let me rewind.
Last evening, we went to a Valentine’s banquet / fund-raising event for Forgotten Children International (forgottenchildren.org), an organization birthed from a pastor at our church which helps orphans in other countries by sending donated clothes and goods as well as building orphan homes with a Christian environment in those countries. Anyway, not 5 minutes after we arrived, we saw that auction item #1 was a 3 month old black Labradoodle puppy. For those unfamiliar, a Labradoodle is a relatively new (late 80’s) mixed breed of a Labrador and a Poodle. And I’ll say right now, that it wasn’t entirely my fault! Jessi looked at me with half excited, half don’t you dare bid on that eyes. What could I do!?!
Well, after looking at everything else up for auction and looking back and forth at each other all evening, we finally found ourselves bidding on the little guy. Mind you, we had no intentions of bringing home a puppy - even if I was starting to get Jessi used to the idea of having another dog now that we’ve settled into our house and the adoption didn’t end up going through - but I was thinking after Summer - maybe early fall. NOT NOW!
Long story short, he became ours after I bid one last time (after Jessi taking the card away).
The girls were so excited, but now we’re back to training a puppy. This time, however, I’m going to be signing up for those obedience classes. I still remember how much of - and for how long - a puppy Lady was.
A day later, no regrets. He’s been fun - even if certain people reading this are shaking their head in disbelief. You know who you are.

We are really enjoyed your pictures. We hope everything is going well. I have told our Granddaughter that the puppy has a good home with children to love him. I gave our daughter your web page address so she can show Elena where the puppy is. I’m praying he potty trains easily for you. Maybe we will see you Sunday. Take care and God Bless, Anita

You forgot to mention who cleaned up his first “present”…sheesh, i started taking care of every little critter you dragged in since you could speak those immortale words every little kid has ever uttered “can we keep him, huh? huh? I promise mama, you wont have to do a thing”. Let’s see…I don’t think you’ve ever used the excuse “it’s for the orphans” before now, so if Jessi says you can keep him then it’s ok with me! haha He really is a sweetie!
