Urgent Prayer Request – Update
UPDATE, Monday, Aug 18: Today was encouraging. They backed off of the morphine and she was somewhat out of sedation this evening. It was nice to see her nodding her head and smiling as we talked to her and especially when she saw her great grandbabies!
Tomorrow they hope to be able to remove the oxygen tube so she can at least start talking and not have a tube down her throat. Her heart rate is still high (115-120 as of tonight), but I’m sure they know what they’re doing. Pray that she’s able to make it through that small bit of trauma and that she continues to recover well from here on out.
One day at a time, sweet Jesus.

UPDATE, Sunday, Aug 17: After a long couple of days of uncertainty, we’ve finally been able to get some answers from the doctor. Until today, we had no idea why she was still sedated – we just figured she wasn’t coming out of it and that we may lose her at any moment. Fortunately, however, we learned that they were purposely keeping her mildly sedated for her own comfort and are just waiting for her heart rate to come down. (on Saturday it was in the 140bpm range and today it stayed in the 120 range) It is coming down, but it’s taking time and trial and error with the medication.
They were, however, able to remove the balloon pump on her heart, so her heart is beating 100% on its own and all of her other vitals are in great range. The only hiccup at this point is her heart rate. Once it’s down, they can remove the oxygen pump and she’ll be able to be out from the anesthesia.
Keep praying that they’re able to get it down soon – the doctor said he has seen it take weeks before with people of her age and condition. Hopefully it won’t take near that long!

UPDATE, Saturday, Aug 16: Grandma isn’t coming out of the surgery as well as they expected. She’s still under mild sedation and they said she should be up and walking by now. Basically, they say, it’s going to be up to her body and mind to “wake up”. We know that the Lord has everything under control, but please pray that she will be restored soon!
Thank you all!

UPDATE Friday, Aug 15: Grandma came out of the surgery, although it took them all 8 1/2 hours. They said that they had never seen such a bad heart, but thankfully they were optimistic on her recovery. There’s still a hard road ahead with recovery and she will be on a ventilator for the next 24 hours or so, so please keep her in your prayers!
Thank you!

Wednesday, Mamaw (Dad’s mom) went into the hospital with chest pains. They found that she had a mild heart attack and needed to have some testing run. Yesterday, they found that 3 of her 4 main arteries were 99% blocked!!! As I type this, she’s about halfway through surgery today for a triple bypass.
Please pray that everything goes well and that she goes through recovery without any complications!!!
Thank you – I’ll keep you posted.
