My Vote 2008: Who & Why
I’ll admit, I’ve had a very hard time making a decision on who to vote for in this election.
(I can hear the gasps now.)
Here’s why:
I don’t think either candidate (nor their running mate) will bring about “change”. Lest we forget, we’ve heard all this before. Something like every 4 years. You can take a candidate’s speeches with a grain of salt, because we all (should) know that once they’re in office, things change (and by things, I mean tunes).
Yes, I know that Barack wants you to think that he’s the one to turn America around, and John wants you to think he’s a Maverick and he’ll whip D.C. into shape, but, in reality, the power lies within government as a whole. In all honesty, we, as the people, have just as much power to promote change – even more so – than any president. We have the right to impeach – and if enough of us wanted, we could bring about change.
As far as “experience”. No one on earth could have enough. Every President will learn and grow as time goes on. There are advisers put in place for that very purpose. John (or Palin for that matter) is just as capable as Obama.
All that being said, I must make my decision on the issue I feel is one of the most important. Money will come and go, we can never truly know a person’s faith, stem cell research is inevitable (and, if handled by responsible parties, rightly so), but human life is one thing that you just can’t mess with.
I draw the line at abortion.
Because of this, I’m casting my vote for McCain & Palin. I agree, that there are some hazy lines in the first few months of a pregnancy – especially where the risk of the mother is at hand, but ultimately, a child should be allowed to live – and the notion that any child is a “mistake” and should be rid of just because of that “mistake” is inconceivable and extremely selfish.
Adoption is a much better solution, but do you ever hear anyone suggesting that?
Anyhoo, if you have any question on where Obama stands on the subject, watch the video below and decide for yourself. May God continue to bless our nation.
